Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 thriller is arguably his most famous film, and one of the most famous film's of all time. the thriller, directed by Hitchcock, stars Anthony Perkins as Norman Bates, Janet Leigh as Marion Crane, John Gavin as Sam Loomis and Martin Balsam as Det. Milton Arbogast. The screenplay was based on Robert Bloch's 1959 novel 'Psycho', which was initially inspired by the Wisconsin murderer and grave robber Ed Gein.The film centres around seemingly innocent secretary Marion Crane, as she embezzles $40'00 from her employer and makes a swift escape to a suspicious motel in the middle of nowhere, and an even more suspicious motel owner Norman Bates.
This Hitchcock classic was nominated for four different academy awards, such as best supporting actress for Janet Leigh, and best director in Alfred Hitchcock. This film is also frequently described as "one of the most important films of all time" by critics and in polls across the world.
